One Hundred and Fifty Three

Number squares are also called by the name, magic squares. The meaning of such squares has degenerated.  to nothing more than a puzzle or a simple  curiosity. In antiquity the magic number square had a multitude of associations. They were of extreme importance. Ancient builders recognized 7 primary number squares. Each one was thought to invoke the power of one of the seven recognized planets. For example:  3 x 3 invoked Saturn.  5 x 5 called on Mars. The 4×4 magic square, pictured below, was said to invoke Jupiter. John Michell, in The View Over Atlantis, points out how the statue of Jupiter at Olympus was built by the numbers of this square.

The Depressed Angel is calling on the 4 x 4 number square. So are Christ and his disciples on the fishing vessel.

The second miraculous catch of fish is also called the “miraculous catch of 153 fish,” and seems to recall the first catch. It is reported in the last chapter of the Gospel of John (John 21:1–14)[5] and takes place after the Resurrection of Jesus.[6][7][8][9]

In Christian art, the two miracles are distinguished by the fact that in the first miracle Jesus is shown sitting in the boat with Peter, while in the second miracle he is standing on the shore.

So Where is One Hundred and Fifty Three?

Here’s how we specifically come to 153 fish. Total all the numbers from 1 to 17 as 1 + 2 +  3 + …..17 = 153. All number squares have characteristic numbers which  is the sum of any two oppositely placed numbers. On the 4 x 4 any two characteristic numbers total 17. Thus, 16 + 1 =17;  6 + 11 = 17; 12 + 5 = 17  etc.

In other words, the next question must be what are the characteristics of Jupiter?

Characteristics of the planet Jupiter

Generally the planet Jupiter rules over the law. Jupiter is masculine, fiery, sanguine, positive, liberal, cheerful, profitable and decent by character. It rules over Sagittarius the 9th house in the zodiac sign and the Pisces the 12th house of the zodiac sign.  Now I must ask  ask my reader why isn’t this a worthy cause?  Number squares were called upon in many ways.
